Heavyweights lift Sensex 200 pts, Nifty near record high; Bharti dips

Equity benchmarks and broader markets gained further in noon, backed by index heavyweights Reliance Industries, L&T, HDFC and ICICI Bank.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 197.50 points at 29,818 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 38 points at 9,211.75 while the Nifty Midcap climbed 0.7 percent and Smallcap was up 0.9 percent.

About 1847 shares advanced against 704 declining shares on the BSE.

Bharti Airtel lost nearly 4 percent while Reliance Industries jumped 4 percent on strong response to its Reliance Jio prime membership.
