Sensex cracks 350 pts, Nifty breaks 9800; Midcap plunges 4%

Sensex Down
Equity benchmarks fell sharply in last hour of trade as the Nifty has broken 9,800 level for the first time since July 18.

The Sensex was down 342.38 points or 1.08 percent to 31,455.46, and the Nifty down 124.75 points or 1.26 percent at 9,783.30.

About 8 shares declined for every share rising on the BSE.

The fall was more in broader markets as the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices cracked 4 percent each.
