Nifty around record highs, Sensex up 170 pts; ITC, BPCL laggards

Benchmark indices saw some strengthening in the afternoon session, with the Sensex rising over 120 points, while the Nifty inched its record high mark of 10,137.

The Sensex was up 125.90 points at 32284.56, while the Nifty was up 28.00 points at 10121.05. The market breadth was positive as 1,223 shares advanced against a decline of 1,160 shares, while 149 shares were unchanged.

Sun Pharmaceuticals, Reliance Industries and Tata Power gained the most on both indices, while ITC, L&T and BPCL were the top losers.
